Very Light Magazine is a magazine of The Antique & Historical Arms Collectors Guild of Victoria, Inc                                                                         No 84 October 2016

A Special General Meeting of the Guild will be held at 7.30 PM on Monday the 28th of November 2016 at the Eley Park Community Centre, Eley Rd., Blackburn South, Victoria.

In accordance with sections 10, 11 and 12 of the Rules of Association of the Antique & Historical Arms Collectors Guild of Victoria a special general meeting of the Guild will be held at 7.30 PM on Monday the 28th of November 2016 at the Eley Park Community Centre, Eley Rd., Blackburn South, Victoria.

The sole item of business will be a motion to increase annual subscriptions for all categories of membership as follows.

Suburban subscription to be increased by $10.00 per annum

Pensioner subscription to be increased by $5.00 per annum

Country subscription to be increased by $5.00 per annum

Family subscription to be increased by $5.00 per annum

If the motion is carried the subscription increase will see Suburban subscriptions rise from $65.00 to $75.00; Pensioner subscriptions rise from $55.00 to $60.00; Country subscriptions rise from $40.00 to $45.00 and Family subscriptions rise from $70.00 to $75.00.

The committee considers that due to ever increasing costs this modest subscription increase along with other cost cutting measures will help ameliorate the declining income of the Guild caused by our falling membership numbers.

Please note that the advertised display theme of shotguns and hunting weapons from all periods and all nationalities will take place as well.

(Supper will be served after the meeting)

Call for Expressions of Interest – Guild Antiques and Militaria Fair

Dear Members

I am taking the opportunity to bring you up to date with the concept of a Guild Fair I briefly mentioned at the AGM in July.

Firstly, initial enquiries as to likely costs have convinced me that the potential for a meaningful profit is remote. However, my and the Committee’s feeling, is that there will be enthusiasm for an Antiques and Militaria Fair – with a large focus on impressive displays by our members – to go ahead.

The revised aim would be to put the activities of the Guild in front of the public. In doing so we would, hopefully, gain some new members. At the very least we should achieve some positive publicity while putting on an event of keen interest to our own members.

What the Committee must have, is an indication of the level of support we can expect from Guild members, without which nothing can materialize. Would you please respond by email - cupfire1@ozemail.com.au  or telephone 9584 2907 to let us know whether you would commit to “renting” a table/s, and whether you would be selling items, or providing a display.

Once in possession of indicated numbers, we can then source a suitable location and firm up a date. Accordingly, we will have to put a deadline for the receipt of your indications. Would you please respond by 22nd December, 2016.

All further information & updates regarding this event will, of course, be in our Very Light newsletters, published bi-monthly on our website.

Best regards,

Eric W. Estlin

President
