Remaining Monday Night Themes for 2012

Oct 29 – We regret to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to cancel the announced talk. Instead the theme will be a night of buy and sell as well as general displays. (This is not a Major Noel Hall Award night).

Nov26 – Combined Guild/Vintagers Night. The theme will be Rule Britannia” - Side Lock & Box Lock guns including flintlock and percussion pistols that represent the spirit of Britain. As usual for this enjoyable annual event a supper will be served. (This is not a Major Noel Hall Award night)

 

Firearms and Weapons Amnesty

The Chief Commissioner of Police has announced a Firearms and Weapons Amnesty in the State of Victoria to be held from 1 October – 30 November 2012. The commencement of the amnesty coincides with Community Safety Month.

Guild Annual General Meeting

At the Annual General Meeting held on the 30th. of July the committee was elected.

President, Ian Turner, Vice-President, Dr. Ben Thomas, Secretary, Dr Malcolm McKay, Treasurer, Tim Parker; Editor, Barry Thomas; Committee Members; Chris Cosopodiotis, Graham Waddingham, Kevin Saunders, Peter Ruse, Winston Chandler, and Adrian Roads.

Due to the enthusiasm shown by members entering displays for the Major Noel Hall Trophy the committee this year decided to award additional prizes for the second and third place getters. Guild President Mr Ian Turner presented the winners with their awards. The entries in the award displays have been of a consistent high standard and we hope that the award will continue to attract fine entries.

1st. Place and a prize of $500.00, Neville Leaf;

2nd Place and a prize of $300, Adrian Roads

3rd. Place and a prize of $100.00, Kevin and Vincent McLauchlan.

Information Request – Sharps Carbine

Graeme Young owns an 1851 Sharps carbine, serial number 58. He has heard that a Guild member has a copy of the Sharps production records. If this is correct he would be grateful if that member could contact him on younggk@optusnet.com.au or 9375 3312 or 0411 600 096 regarding any info available on who it was delivered to.

A cased pair of flintlock officers pistols made by Rigby, Dublin. 8 inch barrels and full stocks. These are cased in their original brass bound case with original interior, trade label etc. plus accessories.
