After the AGM we will announce the results of the Major Noel Hall Award. This has been very successful and has resulted in really excellent displays. Our grateful thanks to all those who participated. We have all enjoyed these evenings.

Subscription Reminder

We are reminding members that the annual subscription renewals for the financial year 2012 – 2013 were sent out in May. There are still many that are outstanding.

As you are aware the legislation requires that if you hold a Collectors Licence you must be a current financial member of an approved collecting organisation. The legislation also requires that approved organisations must advise Licensing Services Division when any member has ceased to be a member. Failure to adhere to these conditions will result in cancellation of your licence and seizure of any firearms held on that licence.

Furthermore whilst some other classes of weapons are not licensed e.g. swords, etc. a requirement of the legislation is that legal purchase or possession of them also requires current membership of an approved organisation.

This year the Guild provides members with the option to pay their annual subscription by direct bank pay-in or by bank transfer through the internet - as well as cheque or money order as previously. If paying by bank pay-in or internet transfer, please ensure that the following details are provided to the receiving bank:

Account being paid:      Antique & Historical Arms Collectors Guild of Victoria, Inc.

Commonwealth Bank   BSB:                            063 197
Account Number:         0090 1614

Reference Number:       (Your Membership Number)
This is ESSENTIAL as it is the reference the Guild needs to record your payment.

Napoleonic Exhibition

Members may be interested to know that the "Napoleon: Revolution to Empire" exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria was reviewed by Michael Kroger in "The Age" recently and he noted "The Musee de l'Emperi has lent a number of superb original uniforms, shakos (cylindrical military caps) and rifles; the curators have also secured a rare uniform worn by Napoleon in exile on St Helena". A (non-Guild) friend commented "Went to the Napoleon exhibition yesterday. The firearms there would have to be the finest to ever be seen in this country I would think." The Exhibition runs 2 June - 7 October 2012, 10am-5pm daily, until 9pm Wednesdays, NGV International, 180 St Kilda Road. For further information go to - http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/napoleon.
